It was nice to revisit Margot and Kyle. I enjoyed their story in the beginning of this series. To see them making their family a family was a great treat.This book definitely definitely has its funny parts and its sweet parts. The McCready family alone is one of my favorite fictional families. The downfall to this book is that there is too much filler, trying to give us backstory we already had in the previous books. Even if this is read as a standalone, the repeat of parts of backstory seemed pointless and just there to add words to this novella. I would have rathered more sustenance. If you take the backstory out, there isn't much of a story left here.I am looking forward to the next full length novel in this series in April. Until then, if you haven't started this series, there is no better time than right now.
Margot and Kyle are back again in A Few Pecans Short of A Pie. And things are going to get more complicated as they start planning for their wedding. Emotions are going to be very high for both of them. Margot is facing a lot of changes that she is just feeling out of place when she start planning for the wedding. She does not know what she wants for the wedding that it starts taking a toll on her. But do not worry, her father is there to give her the emotion support that she is missing when she realize that she miss her mother. While Margot is missing her mother, Kyle oldest child is missing their mother that emotions start to arise in their household. Kyle and Margot will always understanding of their feelings no matter what. And it does not hurt when Margot extended family pitch in and help. The family is crazy as always and who does not love it anyway. A Few Pecans Short of A Pie is the perfect short story for Kyle and Margot as they adjust having a baby and wedding too. Five Stars.
A Few Pecans Short of a Pie is a hilarious addition to the tales of the McCready clan. Wedding planning is stressful as event planner Margot very well knows but it is even more stressful for her as she is very pregnant and doesn’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings. She is not used to the southern exuberance for interfering. Thank goodness for her cousins Frankie and Marianne or she would be getting married in the funeral home wearing yards of lace and ruffles. But it is all done with good intentions and love. Margot may not survive such love. This story tells how Margot pulls off her perfect wedding and manages to offend everyone and no one at the same time. I laughed my butt off.
I think that I have read all of Molly Harpers books. And I have listened to 3 of her audio only books. What I like about her characters are that they are gawky, flawed and funny. The women tell it like it is, all sass and vinegar, and they are funny.A few pecans short of a pie is a novella about Margot. It’s the epilogue of her story. It gives us the story of how she and Kyle got married. This story also gives us the lead in to Duffy’s story. So Molly Harper I hope you have Duffy’s story ready to release. You’ve satisfied my sweet tooth with the wrap up on Margot, now I need the story about Duffy.
This novella was a perfect little continuation of Margot and Kyle’s story! It let some of the unresolved tendrils from Sweet Tea and Sympathy find natural feeling resolutions. I loved the development of Margot’s relationship with the girls and with the McCready clan in general. And the little glimpses of what we can hope to see in Duffy and Lucy’s book have me all primed for *Gimme Some Sugar*!
This is a continuation of the wonderful characters in ST&S. I'm a huge fan of Molly Harper and loved the trials & tribulations of Margot as she tries to please everyone while planning her wedding. I think anyone who's been a bride will empathize with her pain.
I have read all the previous books in this series and this one was not as good. The story line is a bit thin and the characters were not fleshed out as well as in the other books. I am hoping if she writes more in this series that they are better written.
Loved the continuation of Margot’s story - as usual in this series, the characters were fun, sweet, vibrant, and endearing. The story was sweet and a quick read.
